2019 Updates

Jed Peterson appears in The Dark Star from Harlem, The Spectacular Rise of Josephine Baker at LaMama this fall. 

Stephen Bradbury can be seen in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two.

Jenny Lyn Bader's solo piece Equally Divine has been selected for the United Solo Show on Theatre Row this fall.

Irene Sofia Lucio is performing in the Broadway production of Slave Play. 
  

Owen Panettieri was selected for a residency at the Eugene O'Neill Playwrights Conference last summer.

Deborah Savadge's play Dark at the Center was awarded the Playwrights First Prize and was given a reading at Schrieber Studios. A finalist for the Woodward/Newman prize and for Centenary's Glaspell, it won the Golden Prize and the TheatreFest Regional Playwriting prize.

Melissa Hurst is a narrator for Audio Books. 

Dara O'Brien's play Spent was excerpted as part of the Bloom series at Hudson View Gardens, hosted by the Geese Collective. 

Jed Peterson played the title role in The Importance of Being Earnest with New York Classical Theatre last summer.

Joey Brenneman is the Artistic Director of Star Theatre.


Ginger Grace will appear this season in her one-woman show, The First Ladies Coalition.

Fengar Gael's play, The Draper's Eye, was given a staged reading at the Athena Project Plays In Progress Series in Denver, Colorado. Her play Litttle Red has been selected for a reading at NJ Playwrights.

Olivia Horton was featured on NBC's Chicago Fire.

Fengar Gael's play The Last Lot was given a staged reading at the Manhattan Theatre Works' Newborn Festival at the City College of New York's North Academic Center.
 
Jed Peterson played Rudolf Nureyev in Nureyev's Eyes at American Stage Theatre in St. Petersburg and reprised his role at Delaware Theatre Center. 

Deborah Savadge's play, Dim Sum, will be published by Playscripts next year. Her short play, "Not Really," will be published by Applause Theatre Books this season.

Fengar Gael's play, The Draper's Eye,  was produced by the Theatre Department's Harlequin Productions at Cayuga State College in Auburn, New York.
 
Glenda Frank's play, The Bee Keeper, was read  at Julia's Reading Room. Gallerians in the cast include Stephen Bradbury, Julie Carpenter, David Crommett, Ginger Grace, Sam Percic and James Prendergast along with Bones Rodriguez and Susanna Miller. 6:30 pm. Her play was one of three Gallery finalists for this year's O'Neill.

Fengar Gael's new play, Devil Dog Six, just completed a run at the Spiral in New York City, its third production. Her cast included four Gallery members: Stephen Bradbury, Meghann Garmany, Ginger Grace and Paul Nugent. Her play, The Island of No Tomorrows,  winner of the New Works Contest, was produced by Multi-Stages at the Interart in New York.  

Nicole Kontolefa performed her one-woman show in four New York locations this fall. The final performance was in Russian.

Melissa Hurst  performed her one-woman show, Baby Love, in Bennington, Vermont last spring. She played Big Mama at Oldcastle last year.

Lou Bullock's work is on view at the Metropolitan Opera this season
 
Gallery members appeared at Manhattan Theatre Club Studios in a reading of a new play, Addis Tarkington, by Deborah Savadge. Lyndsay Becker, Stephen Bradbury, Melissa Hurst and Jed Peterson comprised the cast. Karen Eilbacher performed offstage voices.


Ron Crawford appeared last season in a new play by Sarah Ruhl at Actors Theatre of Lousiville.. 

Congratulations to Betsy Johnson for winning the first Betsy Award for her generosity and service to Playwrights Gallery.
